DECEMBER PERFORMERS: MARK POCKET GOLDBERG: With a voice that’s been described as Howlin’ Wolf and Johnny Cash meet Louis Prima and Leonard Cohen at the Annual Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong BBQ and Picnic, Blues and Roots bassist Mark “Pocket” Goldberg sings original, honest, world-weary songs over funky, old-school Blues (and Rhythm and Blues) grooves, with a sense of humor. After a lifetime of recording and touring with such Blues Legends as Floyd Dixon, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Canned Heat, Mick Fleetwood’s Blue Whale, Terry Evans, Barry(No Relation Collaboration) Goldberg, Johnny Rivers and Gerry Goffin, and backing up Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Lowell Fulson, Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Snooky Pryor, Luther Tucker, Earl King, Carey Bell, Junior Wells, Cash McCall, Louis Myers, Lonnie Brooks and Sam Lay, the “Pocket’s” Blues groove has taken him around the world a couple of times. His songs have been recorded by Finis Tasby, Jack Mack and The Heart Attack, and Kirk “Eli” Fletcher among others. He’s also released 7 critically acclaimed albums of original material.

ED TREE Ed Tree was born in New Orleans and grew up in south Mississippi at the three way intersection of Country music, The Blues and New Orleans R&B.
After falling in love with music as a child while listening to the cowboy singers on TV and stealing his big sister’s guitar, he would go on to play in bands through his teen years and become a professional musician in his early 20’s. He moved to California in the mid-70’s to pursue songwriting and expanded his career by becoming a studio guitarist, recording engineer, record producer and touring musician.
Over the past 40 years, Ed has produced over 150 albums, including 2 top five Billboard Blues chart releases, and has recorded and/or toured the world with Spencer Davis, Rita Coolidge, Al Stewart, Juice Newton, Booker T. Jones and others. He has played the New Orleans Jazz Fest and The Grand Ole Opry (with his band The Bum Steers) and had his songs on the Top 40 Billboard Country chart and a number one in Europe. Ed keeps up a busy schedule as a producer and studio owner, and continues to write and perform as a member of the Tall Men Group.

ART PODELL Had Art Podell kept a diary, it would have been a rich chronicle of the life of a folksinger during the Folk Era and as a songwriter in the years since, spiced with a healthy serving of laughter. Unfortunately, he didn’t. Instead, at the coaxing of friends and former folkies, he is spilling the beans on stage. He began in Greenwich Village with friend and fellow musician, Paul Potash. Art and Paul released two albums on Columbia Records. The first -- "Songs of Earth and Sky" -- is considered a folk classic and is rumored to have influenced the early recordings of another "Art and Paul" (Garfunkel and Simon). (Begrudgingly, Art finally admitted last year that they were “pretty good.”) In the Village, Peter Yarrow, their friend, shared a new song with them called "Puff, the Magic Dragon" and it was Art and Paul who first recorded the song in 1961 -- well over a year before Peter, Paul and Mary's version. In 1961, the boys headed west to the L.A. folk scene. "We were so successful," Art remembers while scratching his head, "we broke up." Art turned to songwriting and was immediately signed to Henry Mancini’s publishing company. In short order, he had songs recorded by Rod McKuen, The Smothers Brothers, Glenn Yarbrough, Joe and Eddie, Bud and Travis, Barry and Barry, and, eventually, The New Christy Minstrels, whom he joined as one of the original members in 1962 until 1966. Anne Murray’s Christmas classic “Christmas Wishes” was co-written by Art with Randy Sparks. Quite a ride -- from the Troubadour to Carnegie Hall in less than six months…national TV, college concerts, European tours, and performances at the White House. After he left the Minstrels, Art’s long music experience led him to A&M Records Almo-Irving Publishing Companies during the late sixties and early seventies where he was hired as Professional Manager. He stuck around long enough to introduce the company to Paul Williams, a young songwriter he discovered through his old friend Van Dyke Parks. Williams was signed immediately. Art continues to write and perform. He recently appeared in concert with his friend Peter Yarrow and is in constant demand for folk music festivals and tribute shows as host and featured artist. He hosts a monthly segment of "Roots Music and Beyond" on KPFK 90.7 FM Radio in Los Angeles, a Pacifica Station. He also is a regular columnist and reviewer for Folkworks.org, a Southern California Newsletter that services close to half a million devotees of the folk and traditional music and dance community. Art was recently awarded the 2019 “Best of The West” award by the Far-West Folk Alliance for his lifetime achievements in supporting, promoting and participating in the folk music tradition. STEVEN MCCLINTOCK With over 35 years as a successful musician, this is a sweet time for singer, songwriter, publisher, producer, manager, studio/label owner, internet entrepreneur Steven McClintock. With over 250 cuts including Tiffany, Andy Williams, Juice Newton, Sixwire, ATC, Shiny Toy Guns, The Nelsons, Paul Jefferson, Tumbleweed and more including over 25 films and dozens of TV shows, Steven is also very involved in publishing with such writers as Grammy nominee Pamela Oland and Grammy nominated Chad Petree and Jeremy Dawson from Shiny Toy Guns.

Recent accolades include the 2015 double gold CD of Robin Schulz’s debut album “Prayer”, the 2013 double gold 2013 double Gold Award for Snowflakes from the German blockbuster soundtrack KOKOWAAH, 2011 LA Music Awards Best Recording Act, 2007 Grand Prize winner of the International Acoustic Music Awards, winner of the 2010 New Music Award for Best New AAA Artist, Best Acoustic Male Vocalist of the Year for LA Music Awards 2007, and Best Acoustic Group for the Orange County Music Awards.

Steven’s love of music has long been reflected in performance as well as songwriting. He’s sung background vocals with many artists, such as Phil Collins, Carlene Carter, Tiffany, Elvira, John Jorgenson of the Desert Rose Band, Jeff Pearson, Victoria Shaw, Alex Harvey, Rob Crosby, Gene Watson, Don Williams, The Nelsons, Paul Jefferson, and Mark Collie. In addition to these live and television performances, you may have heard him without even knowing it, as he’s sung in over 200 commercial jingles for radio and television.

Production has been a big focus for Steven in the last few years with such acts as White Apple Tree, Paul Jefferson and Kevin Fisher along with his most current projects of Canadian songwriter/artist Joey Clarkson and Sugarland Texas singer/songwriter, Reagan Johnson.

Steven is mentoring quite a bit around the country with events such as West Coast Songwriter in San Fransisco, Road to Stanfest in Nova Scotia, Lucky Run Studio in Houston Texas, Songcamps in Greece, Ireland and Germany and of course his own successful concert series,THE SONGWRITER On the Road.

Steven is a member of Nashville Songwriter Association International, West Coast Songwriter Association, NARAS, AIMP, and NARIP as well as on the board for the newly formed California Songwriter Association. Steven was a founder of SongCatalog.com, a song delivery and licensing format formed in 2000 and still active today.

JODI SIEGEL Jodi Siegel Jodi was born in Chicago, Illinois; The Home of the Blues! She eventually relocated to Southern California and began playing and singing in countless blues, R & B, pop and original music bands throughout Orange Country, Los Angeles and San Diego. Over the years she has opened for and or shared the stage with many respected and legendary musicians including; Albert King, Robben Ford, Robert Cray, J.D. Souther, David Lindley, Fred Tacket and Paul Barrere of Little Feat and others. Her songs have been covered by Maria Muldaur, Marcia Ball and Teresa James. Her new CD, "Wild Hearts" features the A list of Los Angeles and is produced by Steve Postell.
